Hawaiian Wedding Flowers
Hawaii flowers are a romantic addition to all Maui
weddings. We include Hawaiian wedding leis as standard in all of our packages,
but we also have bouquets, boutonnieres, maid of honor bouquets, corsages,
Hawaiian haku (head lei, worn by many Maui brides), hair flowers, cake flowers,
a circle of flowers (placed on the ground at your wedding site in which you
stand to get married) maile leis (a
leafy green lei for the groom), ankle leis and just about anything else you can
think of.
Hawaii has the ideal climate to grow flowers and when you're here, you'll see
them everything, growing beside the road and even in trees. There are so many
varieties of Hawaiian flowers, that you will want to have them at your Maui
wedding.
Much of what is available here you simply won't find back on the
mainland, especially in winter, because we have a year-round growing season.
Our florist also imports many of her
flowers from Holland and South America. This gives us a tremendous variety
in what we can offer.
Hawaiian Flower Leis
As part of all of our Discount Packages, we include two
leis for a lei exchange for the bride and groom. When you read our
ceremonies you'll see that this is in each service we perform, (unless you ask
us to take it out). All of our leis are fresh and custom-made for us by a
woman who grows the flowers on her own property in up-country Maui.
The Hawaiians believe that it is the giving of the lei
with a kiss that imparts that special aloha. We therefore encourage our brides
and grooms to give each other a kiss on both cheeks when they place the lei on
their beloved.
 You can also order extra flower leis for members
of your wedding party and for your children. (We make certain that these
smaller leis for young children are made with non-toxic flowers as some of the
most fragrant blossoms are toxic).
A traditional maile lei for men is made of green
leafy plants and is open on the ends (so that it hangs down his chest). The
plants that
are used for making this lei are actually grown off-island, and must be
ordered in advance (and so these leis are more expensive than our regular
leis).
We also have a less expensive lei available for men
which we call the Groom's Leafy Lei. These leis can be open or
connected in a circle. This is much easier to get than the maile lei,
especially for last-minute orders.
When you order leis, you can specify subdued pastel
colors or the more vibrant flowers. If you have a particular color in mind
that you want us to match (or avoid), be sure to ask and we'll see what's
available from our lei supplier.
When ordering a hand tied rose bouquet, a popular lei
to order is our tuberose with rose bud spacers. The fragrance of the tuberose
is incredible and the hint of color from the roses ties in perfectly with the
bouquet.
Hawaiian Haku Flower Lei
The head lei is called the haku. It can be worn
high on the hair or a little lower on the forehead, depending upon your
preferences and the way it looks on you. When you order a haku, you will need
to provide us with the measurements of your head at the place where the lei
will go so that we can have it made the right length.
These leis have a tie in the back for adjustment purposes in the event it is a
little short or long for your head.
Hawaiian Flower Bouquets
 Hawaiian bridal bouquets come in three general shapes:
the nosegay, cascade, and the hand-tied.
The nosegay style is a round shape, approximately 8 inches round. It
includes lace backing and ribbon depending on flowers used. Our #2 Mahalo
Discount Package comes with the nosegay.
When ordering a hand tied rose bouquet, a popular lei
to order is our tuberose with rose bud spacers. The fragrance of the tuberose
is incredible and the hint of color from the roses ties in perfectly with the
bouquet.
Upgrading Your Maui Wedding Flowers
The cost of the Hawaiian flowers is
included in each of the above Maui Wedding Discount Packages. We list the
price of each package further down on the "Packages" page (hit the "Back"
button to view them).
But if you may add a bouquet to the
Aloha package or upgrade the bouquet you receive in any other package or make
other additions you like. The prices are listed below:
Hawaiian Circle of Flowers
The Circle of Flowers is a
6-foot-in-diameter circle made up of fresh cut flowers that are placed upon
the ground around where you will be married. You will stand amidst the
splendor and fragrance of these
flowers on the beach or on a lawn when you say your vows. The flowers are
spiked down at several points to keep them from moving in the breeze.
A Portable Wedding Arch or Gazebo
There are many paid locations that have gazebos and arches
under which you can have your ceremony. Maui Tropical Gardens and Maui
Plantation both have gazebos. And many of the finer hotels also have arches and
gazebos, a few of which are actually priced reasonably.
But your options are not limited to using a hotel or a
paid site. We have a supplier who will deliver your very own gazebo or arch and
decorate it with flowers (if you like) on the site of your beach or lawn wedding
site. There are a number of different arches to choose from so that you can find
the one that's "just right" for your wedding.
